About Me

I’ve been providing therapy to individuals in Iowa, both in-person and online, since 2023. I hold an undergraduate degree from Loras College and a Master’s from St. Ambrose University. Outside of work, I’m passionate about wildlife photography, staying active, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Cody Tentis, LMSW

My therapy approach focuses on creating a confidential and compassionate space where you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components of therapy, and I pride myself on being fully present and authentic with you.

I draw from various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Person-Centered Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART uses rapid eye movements to reprogram how distressing memories and images are stored in the brain, reducing their ability to trigger strong physical and emotional reactions. This can be especially helpful for trauma, phobias, grief, and more.

Common Questions

  • It's important to check with your insurance provider directly to understand mental health coverage under your specific policy.

    Their number is typically found on the back of your insurance card.

    We accept many insurances including BlueCross Blueshield, Iowa Total Care, Molina Healthcare, Wellpoint (Medicaid), UMR, Aetna and United HealthCare.

  • Therapy is confidential - information will not be shared with anyone without your explicit consent. Therapists are required to break confidentiality when;

    « A client poses a serious and foreseeable risk of harm to themselves or others

    « There is reasonable suspicion or evidence of child abuse or dependent adult abuse

  • Sessions typically last 45-50 minutes and meet weekly or every other week.

    During the first session, we’ll discuss your reasons for seeking counseling, your background and what you hope to get out of meeting.

    It’s also an opportunity for you to get comfortable and make sure I am a good fit for your needs.
